Creating a Turquoise Stone by Janee Fakhreddine


Here is a tutorial I made for CreativeXpress.com

This is a frame I made as a gift. I made turquoise stones out of cardstock. I love these gems.

The supplies you will need is
• Turquoise Cardstock
• Aquamarine Chalk (Misty Meadow Fluid Chalk Queue by Clearsnap)
• Tuxedo Smooch Ink by Clearsnap
• Illuminate Smooch Ink by Clearsnap
• White Pen
• Clear Pebble Stickers
• Cricut Cartridge with a circle like George or Plantin Schoolbook
• Expression Machine by Cricut

1. Cut 1", 3/4" and 1/2" circles out of turquoise cardstock
2. Use Tuxedo Smooch Ink by Clearsnap to create black lines
3. Use Illuminate Smooch Ink by Clearsnap to add glitter accents
4. Use the white pen to create a crescent reflection
5. Adhere clear pebble sticker
6. Add to project and enjoy

Making Crate Paper Flowers Using Glimmer Mist

I love the look of this flower and it is a really great way to use glimmer mist sprays to match your layout.

Supplies: Glimmer Mists, Misting Mat by Tattered Angels, super large, White Crate Paper, Removable Double Sided Tape, Cardboard or chipboard, Assorted Flower Layers by Color Me Crazy 16 ct and an embellishment

1. Take your white crate paper and cut about a 12". Spray with desired Glimmer Mists. For this I used Peppermint and Gold. I sprayed the entire piece of crate paper with Gold then lightly misted the peppermint so it would blend in. Let dry completely.




2. Using your double sided removable tape lay down about 9" on your table or Misting Mat by Tattered Angels, super large. Place the non glimmer mist side on the tape and lightly pleat while adhering.




3. Cut a 1" circle out of cardboard or chipboard.




4. Remove tape and crate paper from table and start lining the cardboard with the crate paper again lightly pleating.




5. For the center of the flower I used a white flower out of the Assorted Flower Layers by Color Me Crazy 16 ct pack and sprayed it with Garden Green Glimmer Mist. Let dry and adhere to center of crate paper flower




6. Add jewel embellishment to the center.

When making a card & envelope sets like in the Sentimentals Cartridge it is best to cut out your envelope first. This is so you know how big you can go with your envelope. Then cut your card to match the envelope size.

.Janee's Tips & Tricks

When using a shape cartridge that's secondary feature has a font but the overlay just shows shapes. It is a lot easier to use an overlay from a font cartridge to type out your letters. This short cut will definitely save you time instead of flipping through the book searching for what shape matches what letter

I love nested images. And I found a great way to do it using my cricut.

First you need to choose an image that is proportionate on each side. Load a 12x12 piece of paper. Press the center point button and line the cricut blade with the center of your paper. Select your image and cut the larges one you can first. Once that is done decrease your size by .5 and cut image again. Keep repeating step in .5 increments. Once you are done you will have a bunch of different sized images. This is also a great way to save paper if you know you want alot of that image on the same page.
